Get The Groundwork Right
Everything needs a good foundation to build on. Whether it's a house, shed pad or dressage arena, starting off with a good solid level base is key. We're Mark & Pam — owner-operators preparing house pads, shed pads and site cuts for rural & acreage properties across the Lockyer Valley and Somerset since 2006. Providing cleared and levelled sites ready to build on!
What We Build

House Pads & Site Cuts
From clearing your building site of trees & shrubs that are within the building envelope to creating a clear level pad ready for your build. Every building site is unique and comes with its own challenges… dealing with sloping land, not sure whether you need to go with 100% fill, a solid cut or a combination of both… you are not on your own. We are here to help you through the process and discuss your options with you to achieve the best outcome.
Shed Pads
From hay to machinery sheds, workshop to storage sheds, agricultural to recreational or activity sheds, bulk water storage to large tank pads — whatever the size pad or site cut you need, we are ready to help.
Arena Site Cuts & Base Prep
A level, well-drained base is the foundation of every good arena — and it's where we start. Whatever the size or surface you have in mind, we cut and prepare the site to suit. Read more about our arena builds
Batters, Retaining & Drainage
Diversion of storm water around and away from your site is a very important part of any site cut or prep. There are various options available depending on site requirements and can be discussed at time of our free site visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a house or shed pad cost?
It depends on the size of the pad, how much cut and fill is involved, your site conditions and whether material needs carting in. Every job is priced individually, and the site visit and estimate of costs are free. We'll walk the site with you and talk through the options before you commit to anything.
Do you work to engineering or builder's specifications?
Yes — we'll build the pad to suit. If you're not at that stage yet, we can still get you started and work in with them later.
How long before I can build on a new pad?
Although we compact as we go, we believe it is a very good idea and encourage you to get your pad or site cut done as soon as possible to allow time for it to settle even further.
Can you build a pad on a sloping block?
Absolutely — a common option for a sloping block is to cut into the high side and build up the low side to create a level platform. However there can be other options depending on the site conditions. These can be discussed with you at the time of our site visit.
Do I need council approval for a house or shed pad?
Earthworks themselves often don't need separate approval, but your shed or house build will, and some larger cut-and-fill jobs also can. We can certainly help steer you in the right direction should you need further advice on this one.
Which areas do you service?
We're based at Kensington Grove and work right across the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions. We regularly work around Blenheim, Laidley South, Clarendon, Kentville, Atkinson's Dam, Brightview, Lynford, Mt Tarampa, Lockyer Waters, Glenore Grove, Churchable, Coominya and out to Wivenhoe and Mt Beppo.
