Arenas are such an individual thing, where different disciplines require different feels underfoot. We understand this and are very much guided by your specific wants and needs — in fact, a lot of our clients come to us with a design of their own. We're Mark and Pam, owner-operators helping equestrians across the Lockyer Valley and Somerset since 2006 build an arena to suit their needs & budget!
What We Build
Site Cut & Levelling
When choosing the position of your arena there are many factors to consider. If your land is sloping, how much of a cut and fill will you need? Does your site actually need filling and bringing up to height? Will it even need filling at all? Let us know what you want to achieve — we'll walk the site and discuss all viable options with you.
Drainage
Storm water runoff can be a huge issue, especially for arenas. There are various options for solving such issues depending on the lay of the land, site conditions and positioning of your arena. Again, this will be assessed and discussed with you at the time of our site visit.
Base & Riding Layers
The depth of the base and riding layers varies between riders and depends on your application and what you're wanting to achieve. We supply only quality local materials, so let us know what you're chasing and we'll talk through all options.
Access, Surrounds & Retaining
Getting a float or truck in, a tidy hardstand alongside, batters shaped and retaining where the ground calls for it — the bits around the arena that make it work day to day! Many options that most people don't think about when planning for an arena, yet can make your life so much easier and the space more workable. The sky's the limit, so let us know your thoughts and ideas and we can discuss all possibilities!

We give you an estimate of costs working on a worst case / best case price range rather than a set quote. This way you pay for what you use and not an inflated price.
4. We Do The Work
From the very first contact to the final tidy up. Being owner-operators we handle every step ourselves. We work with you from start to finish to help achieve the result you envision. No middle man = no confusion!
5. Completion Of Works
We take pride in what we do. We don't load a machine until we know you're happy!

One-Stop Shop
Our combo comprising a 14-tonne excavator, 6-tonne skid steer and truck & dog means we supply and cart our own quarry materials. No waiting on third-party deliveries. We maintain quality control over our workmanship — everything done in-house, allowing for straightforward communication & efficient completion of works.
Local Materials
We supply & deliver a variety of quality materials, from organic soils to quality road bases, gravels, decorative stone, sandstone & concrete blocks, locally sourced from Lockyer Valley and Somerset suppliers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a horse arena cost to build?
It depends on the size, site conditions, earthworks required, thickness of the base and riding layers etc. Every arena is priced individually, and the site visit and estimate of costs are free. Knowing a client's target budget helps us guide them to the best options, so let us know what you're wanting to achieve and we'll talk through all possibilities with you. Our focus is to work with you to achieve an end result that fits in with your vision, functionality & budget.
What size should my arena be?
The most common sizes are 20 x 40 and 20 x 60 metres. However, plenty of our clients go with something that suits their space and the way they ride. If you're not sure, we'll talk it through on site — the shape of your block and the area you have available often answers the question for you.
How thick should my base and footing layers be?
That comes down to how you ride and what you're after underfoot. We've done arenas with varying base & sand thicknesses. It all comes down to what your needs are and what you're wanting to achieve.
Can you build an arena on sloping ground?
Yes — most arenas around the Valley involve some cut and fill to get a level platform. It involves cutting in on the high side and building up the low side, then shaping the batters and drainage to suit. We'll discuss the options with you at our site visit.
Which areas do you service?
We're based at Kensington Grove and cover the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions. We regularly work around Ma Ma Creek, Flagstone Creek, Upper Tenthill, Junction View, Thornton, Plainland, Hatton Vale, Marburg, Minden, Coolana, Glamorgan Vale, Summerholm and out to Bromelton.
